BANGKOK, Aug 5 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is monitoring closely situations related to last week’s bombings in greater Bangkok and has ordered the quick arrest of suspects, the government spokeswoman said.
Narumon Pinyosinwat, the spokesperson, said Gen Prayut was concerned about the bombing situations and issued the order to national police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda.
“The prime minister ordered Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, to gather evidence and quickly arrest the suspects who attempted to create situations. The prosecution of the suspects will expand to the arrest of all masterminds of the bombings. The prime minister also told Pol Gen Chakthip to work with professionalism, adhere to laws and regulations, be accountable and make the police dependable for people,” the government spokesperson said.
Although situations were completely under control, security measures were not relaxed. The prime minister asked people to watch out for suspects who usually wore caps, facemasks and sunglasses to cover their identity, Ms Narumon said.
Security officers were combing through the vicinity of Government House including the Prem Prachakorn canal to ensure safety. (TNA)
