BANGKOK, July 28 (TNA) — The Accident Prevention Network has warned big bike riders to drive carefully and limit their speed because their motorcycles do no suit urban roads.
The network issued its warning in the wake of the reports that a 37-year-old big bike rider hit a flyover guardrail and his head was cut off and two other big bike riders were killed after smashing into a roadside signboard in Bangkok.
Prommin Kanthiya, director of the network, expressed his condolences towards the families of the dead riders and said motorcycles were involved in 80% of traffic accidents and the accidents of big bikes were serious.
According to him, big bikes are not suitable for roads lined with risks because they are too big for urban roads with underpasses, bridges, curves, guardrails and roadside markets. Big bikes suit dedicated lanes and require riders with high skills.
“All young motorcyclists should think of their parents. Whenever they start their engines, they should be aware that their parents wish for their safety and deserve their cautions,” Mr Prommin said.
He asked concerned regulatory organizations to strictly enforce traffic rules, especially speed limits. He also suggested big bike riders should be at least 30 years old so that they are mature enough to make sound decisions while riding for the sake of traffic safety. (TNA)
