BANGKOK, July 4 (TNA) – Tropical Storm Mun has caused
torrential rain and strong wind across Thailand as it makes landfall in
Vietnam.
The Meteorological Department of Thailand reported that as
of 10 am on Thursday the storm was downgraded to tropical depression with
maximum sustained winds about 55 km per hour.
It is expected to downgrade to low pressure cell as it continues its
course over Laos and north Vietnam Thursday evening.
Many parts of Thailand have been hit with torrential rains
with strong winds. The storm has
unleashed heavy downfalls causing landslides and flooding.
High water level in the Mekong River caused damages to a construction
site in Nakhon Phanom province.
Foundation of a riverbank viewpoint collapsed due to riverbank erosion.
In Mae Sot, Tak, dozens of electricity poles tilted after
heavy rain saturated their anchor bases.
Similarly, 12 utility poles collapsed after soil erosion on
the roadside of a highway in Klong Yai district, Trat province. (TNA)
