OSAKA, June 28 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha attended the G20 Summit and proposed the international community liberalize trade and integrate economies for worldwide growth.
In the summit set on June 27-29, Gen Prayut attended its session on global economy, trade and investment.
He told the summit that global economic uncertainty resulted from the lack of confidence in multilateral trade, which led to trade tension. It made the global economy fragile and affected international cooperation, he said.
Gen Prayut urged all countries to look at mutual benefits and develop inclusive and sustainable economic systems.
He also aired his hope for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to be completed within this year. RCEP should create free trade for ASEAN member states and their dialogue partners and cover 31.6% of the gross world product, Gen Prayut said.
He also called for the reform of the World Trade Organization to cope with the present circumstances of trade and offer fair treatment to countries. (TNA)
