BANGKOK, June 26 (TNA) –Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha urged the Bangkok-based Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to bring Japanese investment to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) while the new JETRO president promises to prolong bilateral cooperation.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said outgoing JETRO president Hiroki Mitsumata met Gen Prayut to bid farewell and introduce his successor Atsushi Taketani.
“The prime minister thanked the current JETRO president for having supported Japanese investment in Thailand and implemented projects to actively promote the Thai economic development. He also congratulated the new JETRO president and expressed his confidence that the successor, regarding his knowledge and experiences, will build on the contribution. The Thai government is ready to give him full support,” the deputy government spokesman said.
On the occasion, the prime minister urged JETRO to bring Japanese investment to important industries that both sides have agreed, especially those concerning aircraft, medical equipment, robots and digital operations, in the EEC. He also invited Japanese educational, research and development institutes to invest in the EEC that would boost the economy of the region, Lt Gen Werachon said.
The present JETRO president praised the economic development policies of the prime minister, especially the Thailand 4.0 and EEC policies. The new JETRO president promised to work for sustainable cooperation and Japanese investment promotion in Thailand, Lt Gen Werachon said. (TNA)
