BANGKOK, June 21 (TNA) — The president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) vows to support Thailand in developing connectivity among Southeast Asian nations.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said AIIB president Jin Liqun expressed the stance when he called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on the occasion of his visit to attend the Bloomberg ASEAN Business Summit 2019 in Bangkok.
The prime minister praised the AIIB president for quickly and efficiently developing the bank while the latter congratulated the prime minister for his extended premiership and praised his contribution to national development.
“The prime minister is aware that many countries in the region need financial support for their infrastructures, so he encourages AIIB to be an infrastructural development partner of ASEAN,” Lt Gen Werachon said.
Meanwhile, the AIIB saw room for Thailand’s development in various fields, especially the development of infrastructures for ASEAN integration and the bank was ready to lend financial support for the development, he said. (TNA)
