BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) – The Department of Mental Health is researching on the use of marijuana to treat mentally ill patients and the study will look into its pros and cons.
Announcing the project, Dr Kiattibhoom Vongrachit, director-general of the department, said the department set up a committee to conduct the research on the use of marijuana for the medical treatment of mental illnesses and findings would be useful for related health policies and the overall medical use of marijuana.
The committee already had two meetings and considered research topics which included the treatment of insomnia, dementia and generalized anxiety disorder.
Officials from the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine and Siriraj Hospital participated in the research, he said. (TNA)
