BANGKOK, June 7 (TNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organized the Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2019 (TTM Plus 2019) to attract tourism operators and foreign travelers to secondary tourist provinces and expected the fair to generate tourism-related income of at least 2.5 billion baht.
TAT deputy governor for marketing Tanes Petsuwan said TTM Plus 2019 was aimed to promote tourism in 55 provinces.
According to him, TAT is implementing three strategies to promote the provinces: connecting them to main tourist destinations, presenting secondary tourist provinces with potential, and creating clusters of such provinces.
Many secondary tourist provinces were effectively attracting visitors and they included Chiang Rai, Trat, Sukhothai, Nong Khai and Mae Hong Son, Mr Tanes said.
Last year secondary provinces welcomed 6 million foreign tourists/trips, growing by 4.95%. He was confident that the growth would be steady and such provinces would significantly enable the country to generate the targeted tourism income worth 2.21 trillion baht from foreign visitors this year.
TTM Plus 2019 was set to continue at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya City until June 7. It was organized on the theme of “New Shades of Emerging Destinations”. TAT expected the fair to generate tourism-related income worth at least 2.5 billion baht. (TNA)
