BANGKOK, May 24 (TNA) – The Customs Department launched its E-Coastal Trading System to serve owners of coastal trading vessels and port operators.
Krisada Chinavicharana, director-general of the department, said the E-Coastal Trading System allowed the operators of coastal trading vessels to report the movements of their vessels and undergo customs procedures via electronic channels without having to meet customs officials any more.
Besides, they could also use the department’s E-Bill Payment system to pay fees for, for example, lighthouses and vessel departures through internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs and convenience stores.
The E-Coastal Trading System also provides port operators with quick information about the weights, numbers and other statuses of cargo containers on visiting coastal trading vessels. The information facilitated the management of containers at ports and the operators’ reports to the Customs Department, Mr Krisada said.
He hoped the E-Coastal Trading System would help move Thailand to a better position in the Ease of Doing Business ranking by the World Bank. (TNA)
