BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has issued tourism stimulus measures for the low season, hoping to achieve a 10-per cent growth of the tourism market in the second quarter.
TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that tourism generated the country’s income of 885 billion baht in the first quarter of this year. About 600 billion baht was earned from foreign visitors and about 285 billion baht from local tourists.
TAT governor said during the green season or the rainy season, considered as low season, his agency had cooperated with airlines, hotel operators and local communities tin creating promotional packages and varieties of interesting tourism routes to attract tourists.
A special campaign will be officially launched at the end of this month to offer prizes, worth up to one million baht for lucky tourists. The detail will be disclosed later.
Speaking about overseas markets, the TAT focuses on Asian countries like China. The agency will sign a letter of intent to foster cooperation with key allies.
It expects the country will earn tourism income of about 7.64 billion baht in the second quarter of this year. (TNA)
