BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Commerce Ministry introduced their Trade & Tourism Alliance hoping to raise tourism income by at least 10% in the first year of implementation.
Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat and Deputy Commerce Minister Chutima Bunyapraphasara witnessed the signing ceremony for the alliance that involved the TAT and six organizations under the Commerce Ministry. The alliance would integrate their efforts to link trade and tourism and conduct marketing campaigns.
Under the alliance, both ministries will use farm products, handicrafts, food, products with geographical indications and local and overseas restaurants to attract tourists to the country so that tourism-related income can be distributed to the grassroots economy.
They hoped the campaign would raise tourism-related income by at least 10% in the first year of its implementation as Thailand expected 40 million visitors and 166 million local tourists/trips this year. (TNA)
