BANGKOK, April 29 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Navy will conduct three-day rehearsals, starting tomorrow for crewmembers on the Suphannahong Royal Barge as part of the coronation ceremonies.
The Suphannahong Royal Barge will be moored at Ratcha Woradit Pier on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside the Grand Palace to honour His Majesty the King on May 4.
During the rehearsal, the royal barge will be manned by 64 crewmembers including 50 oarsmen and will leave Thon Buri Naval Dockyard to Ratcha Woradit Pier.
After the coronation ceremonies, the principle royal barge will be prepared for use in the royal procession by waterway when His Majesty the King will proceed along the Chao Phraya River to attend a monk’s robe giving ceremony or the Royal Kathin Ceremony at Wat Arun Ratchawararam in late October.
The Kathin robe presentation ceremony is arranged in October to mark the end of the Buddhist Lent. (TNA)
