BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) — The last lot of ballots cast earlier in other countries arrived in Thailand today.
If they do not reach their polling units within 5pm, they may be considered as invalid, said the deputy secretary-general of the Election Commission.
Nat Laosisawakul said the last lot of ballots arrived this morning and Thailand Post had to sort them and send them to their respective polling units.
Problems with connecting flights of different airlines caused the delayed delivery, he said. He wished the ballots could be sent to their polling units within 5pm when polls ended.
At polling units, their electoral officials would accept them, Mr Nat said. Whether delayed ballots would be finally considered as valid or not would depend on situations and facts, he said.
Mr Nat also said he ordered electoral officials at polling units to make sure pens remained usable for voters. If voters liked to bring their own pens, they should bring those with blue ink to prevent problems during vote counts, he said. (TNA)
