BANGKOK, March 21 (TNA) – Thailand’s Election Commission
(EC) is likely to present unofficial results of the general election within an
hour after the polling ends, for polling units with low turnouts, its
secretary-general says.
EC secretary-general Jarungvith Phumma set the timeframe
while briefing on EC’s preparation for the March 24 general election to
reporters at the EC office in Bangkok on Thursday.
Relevant systems for the unofficial reports of vote counts
covering 92,320 polling units were tested and unofficial results would be known
in an hour at the polling units with low turnouts, he said.
Jarungvith elaborated on procedures to handle vote counts
and solutions to suspected electoral irregularities.
He said that ballots and ballot boxes would be distributed
to polling units on March 23 and vote campaigns would have to stop at 6pm on
the same day.
Jarungvith also said that informants of proved vote frauds
would be rewarded 100,000 baht per case. (TNA)
