SA KAEO, March 15 (TNA) –
A Ugandan man wearing Buddhist monk robe has been arrested for illegally
entering Thailand and disguising himself as a monk.
Ssali Bager, 32, had been reported of wandering around in
saffron robe near a temple in Sa Kaeo province.
On Friday, police searched him and found his Ugandan
passport without proper Thai visa.
When removing the robe, officers found that Bager, who
carried no monk identification card as require by law, wore casual shorts.
Immigration record shows that Bager entered Thailand on
January 9 with a tourist visa which expired five days ago. He claimed that he wanted study Buddhism in
the kingdom.
After his visa expired he has worn monk robe to avoid
prosecution and possible deportation.(TNA)
