BANGKOK, March 14 (TNA) – Overseas absentee voting went
smoothly with high voter turnout said Director-General
of the Department of Consular Affairs, Chatri Archjananun.
Some problems occurred such as
incomplete addresses or information for the postal voting but they were already
solved.
One voter posted the ballot on social
media and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already informed the Election Commission
(EC) to take a legal action against the violator, Chatri said.
So far, 29 Thai embassies and
consulates-general have finished the reports on the overseas voting.
Meanwhile, 14 embassies and
consulates-general such as Dubai consulate-general and the Thai embassy in
Singapore have already sent the ballots to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The highest overseas voter turnout was reported in
Singapore where 4,151 eligible voters exercised their rights.
All embassies are expected to finish all processes
to send the ballots to Thailand. The ministry will then deliver all of the
ballots to the EC. (TNA)
