BANGKOK, March 8 (TNA) – The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority has assured that there will not be a shortage of tap water in the dry season but people should help by reducing their water consumption.
MWA governor Parinya Yamasamit said high temperatures were causing quick vaporization of water at reservoirs and the amount of rainwater was lower than the rain in the same period last year.
However, the existing level of reserved water still allowed the MWA to manage tap water production to prevent shortage, he said.
The MWA supplies tap water to consumers in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan provinces. It was closely coordinating water supply with its supplier, the Royal Irrigation Department, he said.
However, all parties should minimize their water consumption and should not let tap water flow without using it so that water could be reserved for the highest benefits of the country, Mr Parinya said. (TNA)
