BANGKOK, Feb 23 (TNA) – Ministers of the world’s three major natural rubber producers, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have agreed to reduce combined exports by upto 300,000 tonnes in an attempt to increase the global natural rubber prices.
Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Grisada Boonrach said after the Friday’s meeting of the International Tripartite Rubber Council that no signing agreement was made at the meeting. Details will be discussed again on March 4 in Songkhla.
The meeting agreed to boost domestic use of rubber and to grow substitution crops in rubber plantations. An ASEAN Rubber Council will be established to be a platform for discussions on rubber related matters. (TNA)
