BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) — Operators in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector should use smart data to closely follow up the changing behaviors of their customers to maintain their international competitiveness, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has recommended.
The behaviors of travelers on business trips were changing. They had less time but demanded the highest benefits, said TCEB senior vice president Supawan Teerarat.
Participants in meetings were no longer backpackers but were visitors who arrived especially for meetings, she said.
“Therefore, Thai MICE operators must analyze smart data to meet the changing demand of MICE businesspeople,” Ms Supawan said.
According to her, TCEB has six strategies and 16 projects to develop the MICE sector in the next three years. They include “MICE Lane” to welcome VIP visitors at airports, an online system for MICE operators to apply for standard certificates, and online information to educate MICE operators.
The Thai MICE sector grows by 5-10% annually. Innovations and technologies could increase the yearly growth rate to 20%, Ms Supawan said. (TNA)
