HANOI(VIETNAM), Jan 24 (TNA)- Thai Deputy Prime Minister
Prawit Wongsuwan has visited a naval base in Vietnam during his visit to
promote friendship and cooperation between the Southeast Asian neighbours.
Prawit, who is also Defence Minister, travelled to the Phu
Quac Island naval base on Thursday.
According to Defense Ministry’s Spokesman Lt-General
Kongcheep Tantrawanich, Prawit held a discussion with the Vietnamese Navy on
collective security as the two countries had held naval joint patrol.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation for mutual
interests by focusing on joint training, territorial encroachment suppression,
humanitarian assistance and high-level visit exchange, the spokesman said.
During the visit, Prawit met Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu
Trong in Hanoi. They stressed on ways to
enhance the friendship between the two militaries and the Vietnam-Thailand
strategic partnership in general.
Prawit also held talk with Vietnamese Minister of Defense
Ngo Xuan Lich on the topics of regional peace and stability promotion.(TNA)
