BANGKOK, Jan 22 (TNA) – The Thai Bankers’ Association is
pushing for ASEAN cooperation in digital economy development.
The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and
Banking (JSCCIB), held a seminar titled “Empowering ASEAN 4.0” on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Thai Bankers’ Association Predee Daochai said
the Association supported ASEAN digital technology cooperation in order to
enhance human capital, Small- and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), seamless
connectivity and ‘no one left behind’ policy.
All Thai commercial banks had straightforwardly developed
their digital banking services, he said.
The Association forecast Thailand’s economy to grow 4
percent this year, said Predee.
As this year’s ASEAN Chair, the Thai government is pushing
for a cohesive development plan, placing emphasis on the development of
industry 4.0 under the main theme of “advancing partnership for
sustainability.”
ASEAN members have agreed to boosting digital connectivity,
smart city development, cyber security, digital economy and human resources.(TNA)
