BANGKOK, Dec 15 (TNA) — A survey finds strong support for the medical use of marijuana and kratom in the wake of a new law amendment bill which is under its legislation process.
Mahidol University’s Super Poll center conducted the opinion survey on 1,055 people on Dec 10-14 and found that 81.65% and 69.89% of respondents heard about the benefits of marijuana and kratom respectively.
62.91% and 61.31% believed marijuana and kratom respectively could be used to cure illnesses.
95.41% and 96.14% opposed any attempts of a foreign party to seek a patent for the use of marijuana and kratom respectively in Thailand.
76.46% supported the legislation to legalize marijuana and kratom as plants for medical treatment.
The new amendment bill which passed the first reading of the National Legislative Assembly will permit specific areas for the cultivation of marijuana and kratom, tests and medication production and allow controlled use for medical treatment. (TNA)
