BUENG KAN, Dec 11 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to visit the northeastern provinces of Bueng Kan and Nong Khai on Dec12-13 as a Cabinet retreat will take place in Nong Khai on Thursday.
Bueng Kan governor, Nirat Pongsitthaworn today held a meeting with state and private sectors to prepare for the prime minister’s field visit to the province. Bueng Kan plans to seek the budget of 1.4 billion baht for the province’s development projects in four key areas – tourism, infrastructure, agriculture and improving people’s quality of life.
Those planned projects include construction of the province’s new landmark, the Naga (mythical serpent) statue, the 139-km highway development, linking Bueng Kan and Udon Thani, water drainage improvement and Bueng Kan hospital upgrade.
His visit will focus on water sources development to enhance retention capacity and prevent flood. In Nong Khai, the prime minister will visit waterworks infrastructure development project to accommodate local water consumption demand.
On Thursday, at Khon Kaen University (Nong Khai campus) Gen Prayut will chair the meeting on economic and social development of the Upper Northeastern Provincial Cluster 1 (Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, and Bueng Kan), and the cabinet retreat at Khon Kaen University, Nong Khai campus.
