BANGKOK, DEC 6 (TNA) – A Thai woman confesses of using a
good-looking woman photo as her profile image on a dating website to swindle
money from men.
Nanthanil Phakawatsuwan, 32, whose profile name is
Khongkwan, meaning gift in English, has been arrested after her latest victim
filed a police compliant.
She was accused of inviting Sorachat Pholwatana to chat on
the website, after getting acquainted online she asked for financial help. Sorachat wired her money several times,
accumulating to about Bt90,000 to Nanthanil, before the account was deleted.
At a police station, Nanthanil talked face-to-face with
Sorachat and the woman whose photo was used by Nanthanil.
Sobbing in the meeting, she apologized for her acts,
claiming she needed money to pay off debt and feeding her baby.
Before this latest case, she said she had deceived about six
other men using the same trick.
Sorachat said he had forgiven the woman out of sympathy
towards her plight, but warned her not to repeat the crime.
His generosity had been much-talked-about topic among Thai
netizens. He said more than 4,000 Facebook users sent him friend requests and
showed their supports; some also asked him to lend some money.(TNA)
