BANGKOK, DEC 4 (TNA) – Thai lawmakers attend a
merit-making ceremony dedicated to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, one day
before His Majesty’s birthday anniversary which is also designated Thai National Day.
The King’s birthday on December 5 is also celebrated as
Father’s Day in Thailand.
Members of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) led by
NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai gave alms to 92 Buddhist monks from four
prominent temples in Bangkok on Tuesday.
They paid their respects to a portrait of the late king, who
passed away in October 2016, expressing their gratitude towards the king’s
numerous works to improve the quality of life of the royal subjects.
Following the death of the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej,
or King Rama IX, the Cabinet in February 2017 acknowledged the Royal Command to
observe December 5 as Thailand’s National Day.
