BANGKOK, Nov 24 (TNA) – Wichien Chinnawong , the chief of Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary has been honoured by the United Nations Environment Programme, USAID, Interpol, and the Freeland Foundation for his outstanding works to prevent transboundary environmental crime.
He is among 9 winners from Asia. The selection panel has bestowed a special commendation award for Wichien, who arrested construction billionaire Premchai Karnasutra on poaching charges.
The park chief could not attend the annual awards ceremony in Bangkok on Thursday but will travel to receive the award later.
Wichien said the award is given to every forest officials because he alone cannot do the job.
He will keep the award at his office so that every official there will be proud of their duties and their morale will be strengthened. (TNA)
