BANGKOK, Nov 12 (TNA) – About 1,900 kilogrammes of pig parts were seized at cold storage warehouses in Bangkok as part of the Livestock Development’s measures to prevent the African swine fever outbreak.
Livestock Development Department chief Sorawit Thaneeto ordered searches at three cold storage warehouses in Suan Luang and Yannawa districts to check illegal smuggled pork products.
Pork products of unknown origin were found during the search. There are no documents, showing it passed checks from vets or agencies concerned, so the products are at risk of being contaminated.
Officials seized frozen parts of 640 pigs, weighing about 1,900 kilogrammes, worth about 250,000 baht for further inspection.
He said the department implemented strict measures to control and check smuggled animal pars and illegal movement of animal carcasses to prevent an outbreak and create confidence among consumers. (TNA)
