BANGKOK, Nov 2 (TNA) – Over 700 more foreigners have been arrested in the latest police operation under “X-ray Outlaw Foreigner” campaign that has seen more than 4,300 illegal immigrants prosecuted in Thailand.
Immigration police and other law enforcement agencies carried the 38th massive crackdown operation under the campaign, searching 238 locations nationwide on Thursday.
Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Itthisarnronnachai, Immigration Bureau deputy chief, said in a press briefing early Friday morning that 730 foreigners had been arrested.
Most of them, 277, entered Thailand illegally while others overstaying their visas, violating labor regulations and other offences.
Pol Maj Gen Itthipol said since launching “X-ray Outlaw Foreigner” about seven months ago 4,231 foreign outlaws had been arrested at over 5,300 locations across the Kingdom.
The Army, police and local administrators have joined force in the “X-Ray Outlaw Foreigners” as part of the government’s policy to crack down on transnational criminals and law offenders across the country. (TNA)
