BANGKOK, August 16 (TNA) – Thai police have announced the
arrests of nine Chinese fugitives for committing financial crimes worth around
Bt5 billion.
The Chinese authorities had alerted the Royal Thai Police,
leading to the arrests of the fugitives, Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt
General Sompong Chingduang said on Friday.
Before fleeing to Thailand, they committed serious financial
crimes, such as fraudulent transactions and retails, causing damage to China’s
banking system worth over Bt5 billion, he said.
The fugitives, five males and four females, would be
blacklisted by the Bureau and deported to China, added Pol Lt General Sompong.
The Bureau was determined to quell crimes involving
foreigners who went into hiding or running illegal operations in the Kingdom,
