NONTHABURI, July 7 (TNA) — The Commerce Ministry will organize the GI Market 2020 Fair late this month to promote products with geographical indications (GI).
Deputy Commerce Minister Weerasak Wangsuphakijkosol said the Intellectual Property Department would organize the GI Market 2020 fair at CentralPlaza Grand Rama 9 from July 27 to Aug 2 and at CentralPlaza Chaengwattana on Aug 24-30. The fair was delayed from March due to the coronavirus disease 2019.
The fair was aimed at boosting the sales of outstanding products with GI registration from nationwide sources because it would present the products directly to consumers, Mr Weerasak said.
The Intellectual Property Department was promoting GI products through all channels and also planned to seek their GI registration in other countries, he said.
Intellectual Property Department director-general Thosapone Dunsuputra said 126 Thai products from 76 provinces had their GI registered and the latest ones were shallots and garlic from Si Sa Ket province. (TNA)
