BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) — The government introduced the new Thai Chana application software for mobile phones that use iOS and Android operating systems to let people conveniently check in and out at shops.
Elaborating on the app, Dr Polawat Witoolkollachit, inspector-general of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, said people could download the software onto their phones that used iOS version 9 and newer versions and Android version 5.0 and newer ones.
“The Thai Chana app allows users to check out of shops anytime, screens out fake QR codes and let users rate shops quickly,” he said.
The app was set to be available for downloads in the afternoon of May 28 for Android phones and on either May 30 or May 31 for iOS phones, he said.
According to Dr Polawat, the new app will automatically make checkouts at shops when users repeatedly scan each shop’s QR code. It also warns users to make checkouts later and has an easy function for users to quickly evaluate shops. However, the old Thai Chana platform will remain for further use for those who cannot download the new app right away.
He assured that information collected with the new software would be used only for disease control and would not be abused. The app would facilitate the resumption of businesses and activities to let people make their livings, he said. (TNA)
