BANGKOK, April 6 (TNA) – The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) killed three more local people and rose the death toll to 26 while the number of local patients increased by 51 to 2,220.
Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said the latest number of daily new cases showed a positive development but people should remain precautionary because officials had yet to finish investigation into many cases of illnesses.
He described that one new death case was a Thai man, 28. A colleague of his wife had infected with COVID-19. The wife had tested negative for the disease but was already quarantined.
Another new death case was a Thai man, 51, who suffered from obesity and severe pneumonia. The other new death was a Thai woman, 59, who had frequently gambled at many places in Bangkok. She had severe pneumonia and asthma.
“The three people had not been aware that they had contracted COVID-19. They were aware later when their conditions were critical,” Dr Taweesin said.
He also said that 919 people violated the 10pm-4am curfew on the night of April 5. Besides, 79 people gathered for drinking and drug abuse among other activities. Of the people, 708 faced legal action and 315 received warnings.
Dr Taweesin said the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand’s ban on inbound flights caused 48 Thai people to be left stranded in other countries, consisting of 12 in Japan, 35 in Seoul and one in the Netherlands.
They could take flights to Thailand when the ban is lifted on April 7, he said.
He also said that 111 Thai returnees from Indonesia would arrive today and their return requests had been approved before the ban. They would be quarantined at specific facilities, Dr Taweesin said.
The accumulated 2,220 COVID-19 cases were in 66 provinces and 793 people fully recovered, he said. (END)
