BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) – Thai ministers on Tuesday held
a Cabinet meeting via video conferencing after an official serving at
Government House has been confirmed to have been infected with the coronavirus.
The 46-year-old male official worked as coordinator for the
government’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) established
last week.
CCSA spokesman said on Monday that the official had
participated in several meetings before falling ill on Thursday last week.
The main building inside Government compound has been
disinfected and closed for four days.
Meeting venues have all been moved to other buildings.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired the weekly Cabinet
meeting on Tuesday via teleconference system with only some of his deputies in
the meeting room.
Government House officials notified all media outlets not to
send their correspondents to the compound as no press opportunities are
allowed. All video footage and press
releases are issued via a state-run broadcasting agency.
The infected official is first reported to have mild
allergic symptoms before being diagnosed for the virus. About 30 other officers working with him are
now considered at-risk and ordered to be in self-quarantine at home. (TNA)
