The private sector keeps a close watch on the next parliamentary vote on a new prime minister and has expressed concern that a delay in the formation of a new government may have adverse impacts on the economy.

In the first quarter of 2023, the Thai economy continued to improve from the previous quarter, mainly driven by improvement in both foreign and Thai tourists which bolstered services and private consumption, according to the Bank of Thailand (BoT).

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) forecasts gross domestic product will expand 3.6 per cent this year.

The Thai Economy in the fourth quarter of 2021 expanded by 1.9 percent year-on-year, recovering from a contraction of 0.2 percent in the previous quarter, announced the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).
