BANGKOK, March 6 (TNA) — South Korea will quarantine the Thai workers who want to return to their homeland before permitting their departure, government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat said.
Carrying the quarantine request from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai called South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and South Korea agreed with it, the spokeswoman said.
Prime Minister Prayut wanted to ensure the safety of the Thai workers returning from South Korea and to have infected people receive treatment, Ms Narumon said.
Mr Don discussed three measures with his South Korean counterpart. Apart from the 14-day quarantine in South Korea, all air travellers must be screened to detect illness before boarding their planes to Thailand and South Korean immigration police will record the data of the returning Thai workers, the spokeswoman said.
The South Korean government assured that anyone who was found sick would receive treatment for their full recovery, she said.
The Thai government expected people’s cooperation for the safety of the society, Ms Narumon said. (TNA)
