BANGKOK, Jan 29 (TNA) — The government will send a chartered flight, instead of a military airplane, to pick up Thai people stranded in Wuhan city of China, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said.
“The plan is changed from using an air force plane to a chartered commercial plane to avoid problems about international aviation,” he said.
If Chinese authorities confirm that the Thai people are safe, they can return, the prime minister said. “Unless Chinese authorities find Thai people safe, they will not approve the return.”
Besides, the prime minister said that Thailand would have to convince China that Thai authorities were capable of controlling the disease. In this case, he said, he formed a national committee to handle emerging diseases and Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired it.
The committee would work out measures in accordance with those of other countries to control the diseases, Gen Prayut said. (TNA)
