BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) – The Marine Department has
cooperated with the Maritime and Business Association in cleaning the Chao
Phraya River.
Transport Deputy Minister Atirat Rattanaset presided
over the Saturday’s operation said that the activity was meant to create public
consciousness not to discard waste into water sources.
The deputy minister said the Marine Department has
brought 43 boats, belonging to the state and private sectors in collecting
garbage from the river, starting from the Marine Department’s pier to Sathorn
pier.
The Department provided five patrol boats in
collecting hyacinth floating in the river while the rest collected wastes and
also educated households along the river to install grease traps that can
prevent grease from entering the river. (TNA)
