NONTHABURI, Jan 14 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited a Chinese woman who was treated for her infection of the new coronavirus that caused the mysterious pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan city.
Mr Anutin together with Dr Sukum Kanchanapimai, permanent secretary for health, and Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, went to the airborne infection isolation room where the woman was treated at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute.
Mr Anutin said the patient improved, slept well and did not have a fever. If the Department of Medical Sciences and Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine confirmed she was free of the virus, she could be discharged and go home, Mr Anutin said.
According to him, three other Chinese people from Wuhan had a fever but were not infected with the new coronavirus. If they recover, they will be discharged and can continue their tours in Thailand.
“People need not panic. Avoid crowded places and people who cough and have a runny nose. Take good care of your health. There is neither cure nor vaccine for the disease. Patients are treated according to their symptoms so that their bodies develop immunity. Patients will recover if they see doctors in time,” Mr Anutin said.
He insisted on effective health care systems of Thailand. (TNA)
