BANGKOK, Jan 6 (TNA) — The government’s anti-human trafficking committee has completed its reports on anti-human trafficking situations in Thailand.
They will be submitted to the prime minister on Jan 15 and sent to the United States within this month.
The committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon approved both reports that covered three areas of anti-human trafficking situations in the country. One aspect concerns prosecution and law enforcement. Another area relates to protection and assistance for victims who received 11.87 million baht from an anti-human trafficking fund and additional compensation worth 3.3 million baht.
The other aspect deals with human trafficking prevention in which employers are required to have their employment contracts written in Thai, English and the language of their migrant workers for the workers’ protection. Besides, Thai authorities have improved their inspection on the risk groups of workers.
The anti-human trafficking reports prepared in English and Thai will be proposed to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Jan 15 and forwarded to the US within Jan 31 to be a reference for the US’s Trafficking in Persons report. (TNA)
