BANGKOK, Dec 13 (TNA) – The Equitable Education Fund (EEF)
plans to adopt a positive education approach from Finland, renowned for the
most efficient education system in the world.
Director of the EEF’s Office of Partnership, Innovation
and Scholarships, Thantida Wongprasong said positive education was an approach
to education that draws on positive psychology’s emphasis of individual
strengths and personal motivation to promote learning.
It is new in Thailand. After learning from Finland, we
have to find the way how to implement it in classrooms, she said.
An approach to positive education is to develop
Positive CV or PCV, a curriculum vitae of a broad range of skills that helps a
child to learn to recognize their various abilities, providing positive
pedagogy and curriculum based on academic research.
Soft skills or character
traits and interpersonal skills that characterize a person’s relationships with other
people should be trained for young students along with hard
skills or occupational skills, she added.
In this regard, a seminar was held in Bangkok by the
EEF on Thursday to listen to ideas, experiences and guidelines from Finnish teacher
trainer, Kaisa Vuorinen who is also CEO & Founder at Positive Learning Ltd.
She said that she and a researcher from University of
Helsinki did a research on positive education and produced handbooks for
teachers, widely distributed in Finland and many countries.
This cooperation with the EEF is a mission to create equitable
education in Thailand and teachers in all levels should participate to create
lessons that suits each forms of education in Thailand. Application is now open
for schools here to participate in the pilot project to be fully launched next
year. (TNA)
