CHANTHABURI, Dec 9 (TNA) – The International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 created business value worth about 100 million baht and operators have booked booths for the same festival next year.
Deputy Commerce Minister Weerasak Wangsuphakijkosol said the Commerce Ministry and organizations of gems and jewelry traders successfully organized the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 on Dec 4-8. He quoted Duangkamol Jiambutr, director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), as reporting that the festival resulted in the trade in gems, jewelry and related products worth about 100 million baht.
The festival also included the first polished ruby auction of Thailand and the event received very warm welcome from many collectors and traders who were also highly interested in Rabbit’s Eye Red Ruby and Golden Red Ruby developed by GIT.
Ms Duangkamol said nearly 10,000 people visited the festival and they included traders and tourists from China, Japan and European countries. The festival significantly boosted spending on business and tourism in Chanthaburi province. Besides, many Thai and foreign operators already reserved booths for the same festival next year, she said. (TNA)
