KANCHANABURI, Nov 11 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon laid down policies to create international standards for the management of Thai national parks.
Gen Prawit introduced his policies when he visited the Erawan National Park in Si Sawat district.
Gen Prawit said the management of Thai national parks was entering its 6th decade and it was time for the management to meet international standards.
He told the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry to promote tourism together with ecosystem conservation to cope with climate change. Facilities at national parks should be developed to ensure accessibility for people of all genders and ages as well as people with disabilities, he said.
He wanted concerned officials to implement Green National Park criteria and other tourism standards to evaluate national parks. He recommended mobile application be developed to give information about national parks, technologies be applied to improve national park patrols and communities and operators at national parks stop using single-use plastic shopping bags.
