BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) — The International Organization for Migration (IOM) praised Thailand for taking good care of foreign workers’ health.
Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the praise came from IOM director-general Antonio Vitorino whom he received today.
The IOM director-general credited Thailand for offering good health care and medical treatment to migrant workers and foreign employees in the country, Mr Anutin said.
He transferred the credit to Dr Supakit Sirilak, deputy permanent secretary for health. He said Dr Supakit supervised foreign affairs for the Public Health Ministry and Thailand’s public health services had gained excellent reputation and been a model for many other countries.
Mr Anutin also said that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) earlier stated that Thai health service systems were second to none.
Regarding the government’s ban of three toxic farm chemicals, Mr Anutin said he was open to substitutes as long as they did not harm people. (TNA)
