BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) — The National Human Rights Commission on Wednesday issued a statement to strongly condemn the violent attack on a village defence volunteer base that killed 15 people in Yala province late Tuesday night.
In response to the attack at the defence volunteer base in Moo 5 village of Lam Phaya sub-district in the provincial seat, the NHRC stated that the attack that claimed many lives of innocent people and volunteers was cruel, frightened local residents, and violated the principles of all religions and human rights.
The NHRC also expressed deep condolences towards the families of dead and injured victims.
Blood pools were cleaned off the attacked defence volunteer base but the local atmosphere was deadly silent as traces of the violent attack remained and most villagers were too afraid to leave their houses for rubber plantations on safety concerns.
The bodies of dead victims were expected to be discharged from Yala Hospital this afternoon. Nine of them would go to Wat Lam Phaya and four others to Wat Lam Mai in the provincial seat of Yala, and Wat Ban Rai in Khok Pho district and Wat Mae Lan Pa Suai in Mae Lan district of Pattani. (TNA)
