CHIANG RAI, Nov 1 (TNA) – Tham Luang Cave in The northern province of Chiang Rai where 12 young footballers and their coach were trapped
last year was reopened to tourists on Friday.
The cave complex was closed after the 17-day dramatic rescue
operation that captivated the world attention.
More than 10,000 officials and volunteers from several countries took
part in the operation that successfully extracting the boys and their coach
from the flooded cave in July last year.
On Friday, the National Park, Wildlife and Plant
Conservation Department officially opened the cave. It allows 25-30 visitors to enter the first
chamber of the cave each round from 9 am to 4.30 pm daily.
The Cave is located at the foot of the mountain range inside
the Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non National Park near Myanmar border.
Park officials say there have been about 1,000 daily
visitors on weekdays and 2,000-3,000 on weekends taking tour at the Park which
features a statue of the former SEAL officer Saman Kunan who died during the
rescue effort, the Hall of Celebrations.
They expect the number to surge drastically after the
official opening.(TNA)
