CHIANG MAI, Oct 15 (TNA) – The temperature on the peak of Doi Inthanon mountain, Thailand’s highest ground, dropped to 5 degrees Celsius this morning, the coldest level there this year.
The temperature shook many visitors, some of whom had to cover themselves with blankets while admiring sunrise and the sea of mist on the mountain, especially at its popular viewpoint Kiew Mae Pan.
The temperature on the peak of Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong district dropped sharply by 5 degrees Celsius from yesterday.
Local officials expected the temperature would continue to drop there as the country was set to officially start its winter in two days.
Huge crowds of tourists flocked to Doi Inthanon today although it was a weekday.
Yesterday, 3,966 tourists, including 494 foreigners, on 881 vehicles visited Doi Inthanon. During the three-day long holiday starting from Saturday, the mountain received 17,285 visitors including 1,784 foreigners, on 4,127 vehicles. (TNA)
