MUMBAI, Sept 25 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit visited India to promote Thai products as he sees India as an emerging market for Thailand.
The visit was set for Sept 24-28, during which time there would be business seminars and negotiations to develop bilateral trade networks. Representatives of Thai governmental and private organizations accompanied him there.
Thai and Indian private sectors planned to sign memorandums of understanding and have business matching talks related to rubber, rubberwood, tapioca, construction materials and logistic services to boost Thai exports.
Rubberwood targeted furniture manufacturers and traders in Chennai. The Department of International Trade Promotion would sign an agreement with BigBasket of India to create online Thai shops on the BigBasket app and website.
Mr Jurin considered India as an emerging market for Thailand amid the global economic slowdown for its huge population of 1.2 billion. Main Thai exports to India are chemical products, plastic pellets, gems, jewelry, automobiles and parts, air-conditioners and parts, machines and parts, iron, steel, steel products, copper and copper products, televisions and parts, and computers.
