CHAI NAT, Sept 16 (TNA) – A pomelo parade is held in Chai
Nat province as part of the annual pomelo festival.
To promote one of the major farm products of the central
province, the provincial administration held the 36th edition of Khaotangkwa
Pomelo Festival on Monday to Sunday.
Farmers in Chai Nat celebrated the pomelo variety, which has
been a distinct local fruit grown in the province for over 200 years.
Chai Nat Khaotangkwa Pomelo is known for its soft
golden-honey colour flesh together with the right blend of sweetness and sour
taste. The fruit is increasingly associated
with the province’s identity after it has been registered as Geographical
Indication GI of Chai Nat.
Eight districts of the Chai Nat on Monday participated in
the parade to display pomelo, the pride of Chai Nat, and other produces. Carrying beauty queens, each float was
decorated with flowers in vibrant colour.
Cultural shows including traditional dance and Khon mask-dance
drama will entertain visitors until Sunday.(TNA)
