BANGKOK, Sept 9 (TNA) – The Electricity Generating Authority
of Thailand (EGAT) pushes ahead with its renewable energy promotion policy.
EGAT governor Viboon Rerksirathasaid on Monday revealed that
EGAT had introduced the new method of wind-hydrogen hybrid system at three of
its facilities with an aim to provide electricity commercially next year.
The hybrid technology was used to store wind energy by
producing hydrogen through the electrolysis of water, the EGAT governor said
during his working trip in Spain.
The hydrogen-generated electricity would be created for in
periods of high electricity demand, said Viboon.
Such effort was in line with EGAT’s policy to increase
renewable energy as source of domestic energy for higher energy sufficiency,
added Viboon. (TNA)
