BANGKOK, Sept 3 (TNA) – South Korean’s President
Moon Jae-in concluded his first leg of three -Southeast Asian- nation tour,
departing Thailand for Myanmar on Tuesday.
President Moon, who became first South Korean leader to pay
an official visit to the kingdom in seven years, on Monday witnessed the signing of six agreements between the two countries covering a wide area of cooperation
including security and military.
The president and Thai Prime Prayut Chan-o-cha also chaired
a joint meeting of both side’s ministers and high-level officials at Government
House.
They later attended Thailand-Korea Business Forum in which
South Korean business representatives from 100 leading companies explored trade
and investment opportunities in Thailand.
Under his New Southern Policy, Moon’s visit is meant to
promote strategic partnership with Thailand that will help strengthen
cooperation under ASEAN frameworks.
The South Korean president will continue his tour to Myanmar
and Laos. After completing the week-long
trip, he will have visited all 10 ASEAN member nations, one of the goals for
his tenure. (TNA)
